This will be my fourth year with the Lady Cards Varsity Soccer Team and I couldn’t be more excited. I started coaching because I love the game!!
For me, the best part of coaching is developing relationships with the players and giving them a positive soccer experience. My goal in leading this team is to make sure that each player is becoming better while having fun. Also, my hope is to help these girls learn to care about themselves, their team, and their community.
We ended last season 3rd in league with a 9-5-2 record, and we just barely missed a berth to the State Tournament. We had many great games, such as our win against Horizon Christian (who otherwise went undefeated) and our win over Riverside during the 1st round of district playoffs. Last season, our team took 295 shots & had 37 goals on 15 assists. Our defense was also very solid, only allowing 154 shots and 20 goal for the season!
We had many key players who helped us to obtain such an amazing season, including 6 all-league nominees and several more who deserved an award. Last year’s team was also awarded The Sportsmanship Award for our league. I consider this a huge compliment to our coaching staff, players, and fans. Keep it up!
This year from that outstanding team, we are returning 15 players and have added 14 new ones to our program. We are very excited about these numbers and, for the first time, will have a JV team. I know that each player on this team is very committed to improving their individual and team skills. This combination of young woman is playing beautiful soccer, and we are hoping to improve our record this year.
We are also lucky enough to have two assistant coaches this year to help strengthen our team as well as our program. Corbett Alumni Chelsey Stoltz will be returning for her fourth year with the Lady Cards, and we are pleased to introduce Scott Hassebroek for his first season with us.
I am projecting that we will have a very fun, energetic and winning season!
